Dr. Amy Hudson

Clinic Owner • Veterinarian • Chief Treat Distributor

Dr. Amy built and opened Johnson Creek Veterinary Care in 2014 with one big goal: create a small-town, independently owned clinic where relationships truly matter. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2005), she’s been caring for pets for over 20 years — and loving every minute of it.

Dr. Amy’s favorite part of veterinary medicine? Building lasting relationships with clients and helping keep their pets living their happiest, healthiest lives. She loves that being independently owned means JCVC can truly customize care for every patient — no one-size-fits-all medicine here!

At home in Jefferson, life is just as full! Dr. Amy lives with her husband, Chris, their two kids, Noah and Charlie, and often foreign exchange students from around the world. Add in two rescue dogs — Sherman (Watertown Humane Society) and Carson (Paddy’s Paws) — plus two rescue cats, Apollo and Ares, and you’ve got a lively household!

When she’s not at the clinic, you can find her traveling, hiking, kayaking, or crocheting (yes, really — she’s got skills!).

Fun Fact: Dr. Amy is a band geek at heart. She started with accordion lessons as a kid and later played trumpet in the legendary University of Wisconsin Marching Band. Go Badgers!

If her pets could talk, they’d probably say: “She’s great… but honestly, we deserve more treats.”

Dr. Rachel Yohn

Associate Veterinarian • Director of Tail-Wags & Cute Enthusiast

Originally from Fall River, Wisconsin, Dr. Yohn’s veterinary journey began early. At just 13 years old, she started cleaning kennels at her local veterinary clinic. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion for animal care.

With more than 30 years in the veterinary field and a DVM from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2010), Dr. Yohn has spent her career doing what she loves most—helping animals and the people who care for them. She joined the JCVC team in 2017 and has been building lasting relationships with pets and their families ever since.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is helping families and their pets live their very best lives. Dr. Yohn feels honored to care for animals and enjoys sharing in the joy they bring to the families who love them. Forming strong relationships with both her patients and their people is what makes each day so rewarding.

At home in Johnson Creek, she and her husband, Joe, stay busy with their two kids, Frankie and Tate. Their home is also filled with animals, including two rescue dogs, Otis and Clyde from Paddy’s Paws, two rescue cats, Bryant and Archie from the Watertown Humane Society, a parakeet named Pez, and three chickens.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Yohn enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. Whether it’s sporting events, trips to the zoo, time at local parks, or relaxing lake days, she enjoys making the most of family adventures. She also appreciates quieter moments reading or knitting.

What she loves most about working at JCVC is the family atmosphere and close-knit community. Caring for neighbors and their pets makes the work even more meaningful.

If Dr. Yohn were a dog:
A Labrador Retriever—naturally happy, always ready for an adventure, and never one to turn down a treat.

Jennie

Practice Manager • Certified Veterinary Technician • Chaos Coordinator • Director of Barketing & Meow-nagement

Jennie joined the JCVC team in 2024, but her career in veterinary medicine began long before that. After graduating from tech school in 2001, she spent more than two decades working in the field, bringing experience, compassion, and a great sense of humor to the clinic every day.

As a Certified Veterinary Technician, Jennie enjoys educating clients and helping families feel confident in their pet’s care. She loves being part of the happy moments, like puppy and kitten visits, and supporting clients through the more difficult times as well. Those squishy little puppy and kitten appointments, however, are definitely a favorite perk.

In her role as Practice Manager, Jennie focuses on building a positive, supportive workplace where team members feel valued, heard, and appreciated. She believes that when a team works well together and has a little fun along the way, it creates a better experience for both staff and clients.

At home, Jennie and her husband Dave live on a seven-acre hobby farm with their daughters, Lexie and Nadia. Inside the house, their family includes dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, lizards, tortoises, and even a pot-belly pig. Outside, the farm continues to grow with chickens, turkeys, goats, and sheep. If it has fur, feathers, or scales, chances are Jennie loves it.

When she’s not at the clinic, Jennie enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking road trips, and escaping to warmer climates whenever she can. She’s also a big Milwaukee Brewers fan and loves a relaxing day at the ballpark. In quieter moments, she enjoys drawing, even if she only gets the chance once in a while.

What Jennie appreciates most about working at JCVC is the strong sense of family within the team. Veterinary medicine can be challenging, but supporting one another, sharing a laugh, and enjoying the work together makes all the difference.

If Jennie could be any animal:
A dolphin. Ever since she was young and dreamed of becoming a dolphin trainer, she has admired how playful and joyful they seem. Since dolphins aren’t exactly common in Wisconsin, she brings that same energy and positivity to the clinic instead. 🐬✨

Amy

Inventory Manager • Veterinary Assistant • Client Service Representative • The Recall Queen & Everything In-Between

Amy has been part of the veterinary field for about 17 years, but her love for animals began long before that. She grew up helping on her grandparents’ farms, where caring for animals was simply part of everyday life. Since 2016, she has been a dedicated and familiar face at Johnson Creek Veterinary Care.

Amy is truly a jack of all trades at the clinic. On any given day, you might find her at the front desk helping clients, assisting during appointments, managing inventory, or keeping the many moving pieces of the clinic organized. If something needs to get done, chances are Amy is already a few steps ahead.

Her favorite part of the job is, of course, the animals. From playful puppies and kittens to gentle senior pets, each one holds a special place in her heart. Caring for pets also means supporting the people who love them—building relationships, celebrating the happy visits, and standing beside families during the difficult moments. Being trusted with such an important part of someone’s family is what makes the work so meaningful.

Amy lives on her family farm near Golden Lake with her husband, Chris, and a lively group of animals. Their home includes dogs Finley and Eleanor, both proud “foster fails” from the Watertown Humane Society, along with cats Meatball, Batman, Tula, and Livvie. Out in the barn, the family grows even bigger with four more cats, three goats, and plenty of chickens. Animal chaos, as she calls it, is right at home.

Outside the clinic, Amy enjoys planting flowers, gardening, crafting, and cheering on her nephews at their sporting events. She also works as a waitress, where she often continues serving many familiar JCVC clients—because one job just isn’t enough for her strong work ethic.

A fun fact about Amy: she’s known for her incredible memory. Around the clinic, they call her a “steel trap.” She can recall the names of most clients and their pets, along with faces and histories, often at a moment’s notice.

What Amy loves most about JCVC is the small-town atmosphere and the genuine friendships she has built with coworkers and clients. For her, it’s more than just a workplace—it’s a community.

If Amy were a dog:
A Border Collie—always working, highly attentive to details, and incredibly efficient. 🐾

Ambre

Certified Veterinary Technician • Puppy & Kitten Growth Tracker • Professional Pet Snuggler

Ambre has worked in the veterinary field for 10 years and joined the JCVC team in 2023. She lives in Fort Atkinson with her family and enjoys spending her days caring for animals and supporting the people who love them.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is watching puppies and kittens grow through each stage of life. From tiny fluffballs to confident adults, Ambre loves being part of their journey and building lasting relationships with the families who care for them.

What Ambre appreciates most about working at Johnson Creek Veterinary Care is the strong sense of community and the close relationships she shares with her coworkers. The clinic feels like family, and that supportive environment carries through in the way she cares for every patient and client.

At home, Ambre is a proud pet mom to Hopper, her Pitbull/Boxer mix, and her two cats, Jack and Beanstalk—better known as “Bean.” If her pets could talk, they would probably say she loves them with her whole heart, and they would be absolutely right. They are her babies, and she would do anything for them.

Outside of work, Ambre enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing with Hopper, getting outdoors when the weather is nice, and binge-watching episodes of Stranger Things.

If Ambre could be any animal:
A cat, because she values independence. But if she were a dog, she’d definitely be a Pitbull—loyal, caring, and gentle at heart.

Heather

Certified Veterinary Technician • Beagle Negotiation Specialist

Heather has worked in the veterinary field for nine years and joined the JCVC team in 2023. She lives in Fort Atkinson with her husband, Dylan, and their two beagles, Fletcher and Sissy—who, by most accounts, run the household.

Heather’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is educating clients and helping sick animals feel better. Whether she’s explaining a treatment plan or caring for a patient who isn’t feeling their best, she focuses on making sure both pets and their families feel informed, supported, and confident in their care.

What she enjoys most about working at Johnson Creek Veterinary Care is the welcoming, family atmosphere and small-town feel. It’s a place where the team supports one another and where clients are treated like neighbors.

At home, life often revolves around Fletcher and Sissy. If they could talk, they would probably say things like, “Give me more treats!” and “You’re the best mom!”—followed immediately by another request for snacks.

Heather loves spending time outdoors and enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and soaking up sunshine whenever she can. If she were a dog, she’d be a Bluetick Coonhound—happy to relax in the sun but always ready for a long walk. If she could be any animal, though, she’d choose a duck, because they always seem content.

A fun fact about Heather: she raised pigs throughout high school and was an active member of FFA, so working with animals and caring for them has been part of her life from the very beginning.

Crystal

Client Service Representative • Lobby Love Distributor

Crystal has been a welcoming face at Johnson Creek Veterinary Care since 2018, bringing eight years of experience in the veterinary field. From the moment you walk through the door or call the clinic, there’s a good chance Crystal is the friendly voice or smiling face greeting you.

She lives in Beaver Dam with her boyfriend, Brian, and her daughter, Allison. While she doesn’t currently have pets of her own, she more than makes up for it by enjoying plenty of puppy and kitty affection during the workday. Around the clinic, that’s considered a pretty great perk.

Crystal’s favorite part of the job is simple—puppy kisses and kitty cuddles. She also loves the people who make up the JCVC community, including the staff, clients, and especially the patients. For her, the clinic truly feels like one big happy family.

Outside of work, Crystal enjoys relaxing with a good book or spending time in her garden. She has a calm, nurturing personality—but there’s a little more to her story.

If Crystal could be any animal:
An eagle—majestic and free.

If she were a dog:
A bulldog, because beneath that sweet exterior is a bit of a stubborn streak.
